Biological Contaminants and Disinfection

Hello, and welcome to this course!

The average beginning to end completion time for this course is about 2 hours and 25 min.  During that time, we are going to take a look at the different types of biological contaminants and show how disinfection of our water supply has proven to be a major breakthrough in combating them.  We will discuss the history of disinfection, take a good look at chlorine itself in its three states of matter, and go over the breakpoint curve.  We will also discuss the pros and cons of using chloramines in place of chlorine, how chloramines are formed, and how they react with chlorine.  Finally, we will discuss other methods of disinfection and possible harmful disinfection byproducts.  This course will mostly consist of click to play audio files which will have corresponding notes associated with them.  There will also be a few videos for things which really needed to be illustrated.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together.  Lets go ahead and get started.
