Beginning Water Math:  The Water Math Course You’ve Been Looking For

Length:  Three Hours
Price:  $25

If you are about to begin the process of testing for a water treatment or water distribution certification, or if it’s been a while and you need a good review, then this course truly is the one for you.  This course covers  beginning water math, starting from a position assuming you know absolutely nothing about water math, and finishing at a point which will leave you not only with a strong understanding of basic water math but a good grasp of intermediate water math.  Subjects covered include volume and flow calculations and conversions, pressure vs.  head, dosage problems, temperature conversions, blending, and more.

Perks of this course over DVD versions:

  •  It can be taken from any computer or smart phone, and then accessed any time at a later date.
  • Instant access, if time is of the essence.
  • The DVDs are broken down into 24 lessons, which makes finding a specific problem at a later date a snap.  They are the exact footage from the DVDs.
  • Over 40 additional practice problems included throughout the course in the form of quizzes designed to help you grasp the subjects more.
  • Certificate of completion for continuing education means that many employers will reimburse the costs.
  • No shipping fee to pay.
  • Available anywhere outside of the US, as well as within.

Advanced Water Math:  The Other Water Math Course You’ve Been Looking For

Length:  Three Hours
Price: $25

Having laid a basic foundation in the beginning course, this course is designed to take the next steps, tackling the more difficult subjects.  Even though the subjects are more advanced, this course is created with the same “keep it simple” philosophy used in the beginning course, and I’m every bit as happy with the results.  With almost three hours of teaching, this course is packed full of good material.  Subjects covered include variations on the pipe flow formula (solving for pipe diameter, water velocity, etc.), specific gravity and density, dosing with percent solutions, dosage problems solving for “how many gallons”, converting gallons of a percent solution to pounds, gallons to liters conversions, horsepower (water, brake, and motor), calculation of pumping costs, and pressure and force problems.

Biological Contaminants and Disinfection

IMG_0856

Length:  Two Hours
Price:  $25

Biological contaminants of the water supply have killed millions of people throughout the years, and are a major threat to human health.  Today we are going to take a look at the different types of biological contaminants and show how disinfection of our water supply has proven to be a major breakthrough in combating them.  We will discuss the history of disinfection, take a good look at chlorine itself in its three states of matter, and go over the breakpoint curve.  We also discuss the pros and cons of using chloramines in place of chlorine, how chloramines are formed, and how they react with chlorine.  Finally, we will discuss other methods of disinfection and possible harmful disinfection byproducts.

Water Quality Problems and Treatment Techniques

IMG_0903Length:  Four Hours
Price: $25

I wish that I had been able to take this course when I was first learning this material!  This class takes an in-depth look at different types of water quality issues that can arise in the system and how we treat them.  The combination of all of them in one course, along with water chemistry and a detailed explanation of oxidation, puts it all together in a way that I think really makes sense.   I also tried to include clear explanations for the things that I personally had hang ups on when I was first learning this, as well as many commonly asked questions by other operators. This course will start by going over different qualities of water and contaminant types in detail.  We will then focus extra time on the issues of hardness, corrosion, iron and manganese, tastes and odors, and nitrification.  Along the way we will cover water chemistry and oxidation in detail in order to allow you to fully grasp the concepts necessary to understand the issues as well as treatment techniques.
